Photo Metadata Remover

Remove EXIF, GPS and AI data from photos

What is the Photo Metadata Remover?

Every photo can carry hidden information next to the picture. A phone photo may include the date, the phone model and the GPS location where it was taken. An AI-generated picture may carry the prompt, the settings or a content credentials label. The ToolZen Photo Metadata Remover shows you what is hidden inside your photos and gives you a clean copy without it. JPG, PNG and WebP files are cleaned directly, so the picture quality does not change. Everything happens in your browser, so your photos are never uploaded.

How to use the Photo Metadata Remover

  1. Press Choose photos and select one or more pictures.
  2. Wait a moment. Each photo is cleaned and a list shows what was found and removed.
  3. Check the sizes, then press Download next to a photo, or Download all (ZIP) for many photos.
  4. Use the options if you need them: keep the colour profile, keep the photo upright, or deep clean to rebuild the pixels.

Benefits and use cases

Tips for best results

Social media apps remove some of this data when you upload, but not all of them do and not all of it, so clean the photo yourself before you share the original file by email, chat or a website. The tool removes hidden file data only. It cannot remove invisible watermarks that are woven into the pixels of some AI pictures, and it does not remove logos or text you can see on the picture. Use Deep clean if you want the picture rebuilt from scratch, and keep your original file as a backup.

ToolZen tools run in your browser, so your photos are not uploaded to a server. Bookmark this page and come back whenever you need it. There is nothing to install and no account to create.

Frequently asked questions

What is photo metadata?
It is information stored inside the image file besides the picture itself. Common types are EXIF (camera, date and GPS location), XMP and IPTC (author and software details), PNG text chunks, and content credentials.
Does it remove AI prompts and generator settings?
Yes, when they are stored as file metadata. Many AI tools save the prompt and settings as text inside PNG files or in EXIF and XMP. The tool finds them and removes them.
Does it remove invisible AI watermarks?
No. Some AI generators hide a watermark in the pixels themselves. That is not metadata, so this tool cannot remove it.
Will my photo lose quality?
Not for JPG, PNG and WebP. The hidden data blocks are cut out and the picture data is copied as it is. Only the Deep clean option re-saves the pixels, which can lower the quality a little.
Why is my phone photo still the right way up?
The tool keeps one small rotation flag by default, so the photo does not turn sideways. You can turn this off in the options.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The files are read and cleaned inside your browser, and they never leave your device.
