What is the Private Live Chat?
Private Live Chat lets you open a temporary chat room in your browser and invite people with a single Chat ID. Every message and photo is encrypted on your device before it is sent, so even the server that passes messages along cannot read them. Nothing is saved: there are no accounts, no history and no stored photos. When everyone leaves, the chat closes after one minute and the Chat ID stops working.
How to use the Private Live Chat
- Type a nickname if you want one, then press Create new chat.
- Share the Chat ID or the invite link with the people you want to chat with.
- They open this page, enter the Chat ID and press Join chat.
- Send text messages, or use the picture button to send a photo.
- Press Leave when you are done. Closing the page also leaves the chat.
Benefits and use cases
- Quick private conversations without creating an account.
- Sharing a photo or a note with a friend that should not stay on any server.
- Temporary group chats for an event, a game session or a study group.
- Talking through a link you do not want stored in chat history.
Tips for best results
Send the Chat ID only to the people you trust, because anyone who has the ID can join while the chat is open. Share it through a channel you already trust. People who join later cannot see earlier messages, so say hello again if someone new arrives. If you lose your connection, the chat reconnects automatically and skips the messages you missed. Photos are resized and the camera data is removed before they are sent.
Because nothing is stored, a closed chat cannot be recovered. Copy anything important before you leave.
Frequently asked questions
Is the chat really encrypted?
Yes. Your browser creates an encryption key from the Chat ID and encrypts every message and photo with AES-256 before sending. The server only relays unreadable data.
Is any chat history saved?
No. Messages are never stored, so there is no history to read. Someone who joins or comes back later only sees messages sent after they connected.
What happens when everyone leaves?
The chat is deleted one minute after the last person leaves. After that the Chat ID no longer works and you need to create a new chat.
How many people can join one chat?
Up to 20 people can be in one chat at the same time.
Can I send photos?
Yes. Photos are shrunk to a small size and sent encrypted. They are only shown on the screens of the people in the chat and are not saved.
What if I close the page by mistake?
Open the invite link or enter the Chat ID again within one minute of everyone leaving. You will rejoin as a new visitor and see messages from that moment on.
